In one or two sentences, can you describe what your business does?
Reactiv Social is a branding and digital marketing agency started by my partner, Al Linsenmayer, and I. We’re focused on connecting businesses with their perfect customer online. Our main goal is to develop company brands and increase their bottom line.
What do you find most challenging and most rewarding about being an entrepreneur?
One of the most challenging things about being an entrepreneur is also the most rewarding. I’d compare building a business to building a house, if you had to do it yourself. The freedom and flexibility of building it exactly as you want it is great in the end. The difficult part comes in that you’re usually pretty limited on resources and manpower and have to figure out all of the various elements yourself. It takes a lot of time and can be incredibly frustrating, but if you can figure it out and find patience, it’s an incredible journey.
In what ways has your membership at Atrium helped you and your business?
Atrium is a major component of Reactiv’s success in a lot of different ways. Al and I have been able to surround ourselves with other entrepreneurs who have spent time mentoring us, which has given us an incredible amount of value. We’ve grown close to a lot of the members and have found support and encouragement throughout our process of building the business.
Why have you taken the path of starting and running your own company?
We saw a promising opportunity to develop and evolve the way businesses market themselves. As technology speeds along, many businesses aren’t sure how to use social and digital resources to speak to their customers. Our job is to connect the right businesses with the right customers. We’re looking at ways to do that with current technology as well as keeping an eye out on tech that’s going to be mainstream in the next few decades.
If you could give one piece of advice to someone who’s thinking about starting their own business, what would it be?
The best advice I have is to just get started. I’ve always been a person who wants to be really prepared when jumping into anything, but the reality is that you’ll never be as prepared as you want to be. Talk is cheap, the best way to start is simply to get started.
